Fast hätte ich den Hinweis an dieser Stelle vergessen, aber diese Woche Mittwoch, Donnerstag und Freitag (also 28., 29. und 30. Januar) führt die English Drama Group (EDG) der Universität Würzburg das Theaterstück „Woman in Mind“ von Alan Ayckbourn auf.

„Woman in Mind“ is one of Alan Ayckbourn’s blacker comedies, dealing with the gradual mental collapse of a woman, Susan – a collapse which appears to be precipitated by her being knocked unconscious by a garden rake. Starved of affectionate companionship and understanding love by an appallingly boring husband and a priggish son who’s ashamed of her, Susan conjures up an ideal family who come to her in her idyllic (also imagined) garden. But gradually she begins to lose control over these idealised people and their visitations…

„Woman in Mind“ was Ayckbourn’s first play to use first-person narrative and a subjective viewpoint and is considered to be one of his most affecting works and one of his best.

Go see it—or go mad!

Die Hauptrolle “Susan” wird von meiner Freundin Hilary gespielt – und wer in den letzten Jahren bereits Vorstellungen der EDG gesehen hat weiß um die hohe Qualität der schauspielerischen Leistungen der Theatergruppe (und natürlich insbesondere Hilary ;-) ).

Beginn der Vorstellung ist jeweils um 20 Uhr in der Stadtmensa Würzburg. Hingehen lohnt sich!
